Hurricane Florence: September 11, 2018

Hurricane Florence is moving towards the East Coast of the United States. Reference port sites below for the most up to date information:

PORT OF VIRGINIA UPDATE

On Tuesday, September 11, all truck gates will close according to posted hours with a hard stop for all customer activities at 2359. Ports will remain closed Wednesday, September 12 and Thursday, September 13. By midday on Wednesday, September 12, The Port of Virginia will post updates regarding the port’s operating and administrative status for Friday, September 14, on their website.

PORT OF WILMINGTON UPDATE

Port of Wilmington container gate will be open until 7:00 pm on Tuesday, September 11, for pickup and drop-off. The Port of Wilmington will be CLOSED to commercial truck traffic on Wednesday, September 12. No access of any kind will be permitted at the Port facility as of 12:00 am Thursday, September 13, through Saturday, September 15.

PORT OF CHARLESTON UPDATE

The South Carolina Ports Authority continues to closely monitor Hurricane Florence. We are currently observing normal operating hours at all facilities. Any updates or changes to port operating conditions for Charleston, Georgetown, Greer and Dillon would be provided through the website. 

The Charleston airport is working with airlines to revise schedules as we receive hurricane updates. We anticipate the runways may have to close by midnight Wednesday. More information available on the SCEMD website

PORT OF SAVANNAH UPDATE

The Georgia Ports (GPA) continues to monitor Hurricane Florence and any potential impacts it may have to the area. Based on all current forecasting models we are not expecting any impact to the operations in Savannah or Brunswick. We continue to observe normal operating hours at all GPA facilities.
