Thousands of anti-government demonstrators descended upon the Hong Kong International Airport on Monday, August 12.
Due to the overwhelming crowds, airport officials ultimately grounded all departing and arriving flights for the remainder of the day, resulting in approximately 200 flight cancellations. It is reported that a majority of the crowd dispersed a few hours after the cancellation notice.
Airport operations will continue to be impacted as flights are rescheduled.
