The strike continues in the U.S. East and Gulf Coast ports as the International Longshoremen’s Association (ILA) and the United States Maritime Alliance (USMX) employers remain firm on their positions.
It remains unknown at this time how long the strike will continue, and it is estimated that each one-day of work stoppage requires 5 to 7 days of recovery and cleanup efforts.
Vessels are starting to queue outside the ports, and the backlog is growing. Some carriers have declared force majeure and are starting to offload cargo at non-US ports.
