The ILWU Canada has issued a 72-hour strike notice to the British Columbia Maritime Employers Association (BCMEA). This notice gives the 7,000 ILWU (Canada) workers the right to strike effective July 1st at 08:00 am PST.
A strike by the ILWU would halt operations at Vancouver and Prince Rupert terminals affecting import and export through the Canadian west coast ports.
In the interim of any labor disruption, the BCMEA and ILWU, along with the Federal Conciliation officers, continue to negotiate.
We will continue to monitor the situation; please reach out to your Expeditors contact should you have any questions.
