Canada West Coast Labor Strike/Lockout Disruption: November 4, 2024

On October 31st, the International Longshore and Warehouse Union (ILWU) Ship & Dock Foremen Local 514 issued a 72-hour strike notice against all British Columbia Maritime Employers Association (BCMEA) member companies to begin on Monday, November 4th at 08:00 PST. 

In response, the BCMA issued a coastal-wide Lockout notice to begin on Monday, November 4th, at 08:00 PST.

The strike/lockout began this morning and shut down all cargo operations in Vancouver and Prince Rupert.

All port, rail, and trucking operations have stopped. There is no known end date and no information on government intervention to enact back-to-work legislation.
