Due to the recent detection of the Khapra Beetle in Australia, the Department of Agriculture, Water and the Environment (DAWE) have redeployed a number of staff to deal with the threat of invasion.

As a result of this redeployment, the industry is experiencing delays in entry processing through the DAWE system. Current delays, as of today, are as follows:

• Inspections: 10+ days
• Document processing: 7+ days
• Release of cargo after treatment: 2+ days
