US and Mexico Sign MOC and MOU

On March 27, 2018, representatives of the U.S. and Mexico met to discuss economic and national security issues affecting both countries, including joint operations, improved information sharing, and infrastructure improvements along the border.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Commissioner Kevin McAleenan and Mexico’s Chief of Tax Administration Service (SAT) Osvaldo Santin, signed a Memorandum of Cooperation (MOC) to “…facilitate the development and implementation of joint and coordinated programs aimed at increasing trade and customs compliance, as well as combating illicit activities.”

In addition, CBP and SAT both signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to expand cargo pre-inspection and unified cargo processing programs.

Finally, CBP and the National Service for Agro-Alimentary Public Health, Safety and Quality (SENASICA) signed a MOU to promote cooperation in safeguarding agriculture and agriculture quarantine inspections at ports of entry.
