In a series of press releases published on February 23, 2024, multiple U.S. government agencies including the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS), the U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), and the U.S. Department of State (State Department) announced new sanctions on Russia and related entities.
The following items are a few key elements introduced by the new sanctions:
- BIS “imposed additional export restrictions on 93 entities under 95 entries in Russia and seven other destinations.”
- OFAC unveiled new sanctions against almost 300 individuals and entities targeting Russia’s financial base and military-industrial base.
- The State Department issued sanctions on more than 250 entities and individuals, including those associated with Russia’s future energy and mining production.
