On October 21, 2016 the Diario Oficial del Bicentenario “El Peruano” published Director Resolution (RD) No. 479-2016-MTC/27, which provides modifications to the previously released RD No. 163-2016-MTC/27.

Regulation No. 479-2016-MTC/27 focuses on items contained in Chapters 85 & 90, mainly telecommunication devices and apparatuses. Three key modifications were made:

  • Items that are subject to homologation will still require an import permit.
  • Shipments that contain less than five units of private use equipment are not subject to import permits.
  • Goods that do not represent a danger to public networks, cause electromagnetic interference, damage the user’s security or affect the correct use of the radio-electric spectrum are also not subject to import permits.

Regulation No 479-2016-MTC/27 entered into force on November 2, 2016.
