OFAC Issues Interim Rule on Electronic Filing and Reporting

Posted by Timothy Miller on 5/15/24 5:00 PM

In a Federal Register Notice published on May 10, 2024, the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) issued an interim final rule that amends the reporting, procedures, and penalties regulations that will require the electronic filing of certain submissions to OFAC.

This rule would require using the electronic OFAC Reporting System for reports related to blocked property and rejected transmissions. Additionally, the rule is removing the mail option for certain types of OFAC submissions and updating the availability of information under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA).

This interim final rule is effective on August 8, 2024. OFAC is also accepting written comments, which must be submitted by June 10, 2024.
