In a Federal Register Notice (FRN) to be published on October 24, 2016 the Office of the United States Trade Representative (USTR) will announce that they will begin accepting comments regarding an interim environmental review of the World Trade Organization (WTO) Environmental Goods Agreement.
According to the notice, “The purpose of environmental reviews is to ensure that policymakers and the public are informed about reasonably foreseeable environmental impacts of trade agreements (both positive and negative), to identify complementarities between trade and environmental objectives, and to help shape appropriate responses if environmental impacts are identified.”
Written comments regarding the interim environmental review should be submitted no later than November 21, 2016.
