On February 11, 2016, the U.S. Senate passed Bill H.R. 644 “Trade Facilitation and Trade Enforcement Act of 2015”. H.R 644 reauthorizes U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), while covering a number of custom process changes.

Among the changes is an increase to the Tariff Act of 1930, which increases the general de minimis from $200 to $800.  Also included is a regulation that the Government Accountability Office (GAO) must report to Congress on the progress of trade and federal agencies operating in the Automated Commercial Environment (ACE).  

The bill was passed by the U.S. Senate with 75 votes in favor and 20 votes against.
