On August 7, 2013, President Barack Obama issued an Executive Order easing restrictions of imports into the U.S. of goods originating from Burma, except for rubies or jadeites, or articles of jewelry containing rubies or jadeites, which were either mined or extracted from Burma.

A statement issued by the U.S. Deputy Security Advisor for Strategic Communication notes that "in light of the July 28 expiration of the Burmese Freedom and Democracy Act’s (BFDA) ban on imports from Burma, the President issued an Executive Order that repeals the provisions of Executive Order 13310 that implemented the broad BFDA import ban on products of Burma." The new order revokes sections 3 and 8 of E.O. 13310.

The Executive Order became effective on August 7, 2013 at 12:01 a.m. EST.

The Executive Order is available online here.
