On April 18, 2013, the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) announced that it is now accepting requests for licenses, license amendments, and interpretive guidance electronically through their website.

OFAC will be accepting electronic applications for the following:

  • Exports of agricultural commodities, medicine, or medical devices to Sudan or Iran pursuant to the Trade Sanctions Reform and Export Enhancement Act of 2000
  • Travel licenses to Cuba
  • The release of a wire transfer blocked at a U.S. financial institution
  • License or interpretive guidance in all other circumstances (Transactional)

In their announcement, OFAC explains that this change is "part of efforts to further streamline its license processing procedures." Applicants who wish to submit their request by mail, may continue to do so.
