On December 4, 2012, the Journal of Commerce (JOC) issued new updates on the negotiations between the Office Clerical Union (OCU) and the Pacific Maritime Association (PMA), saying that both parties agreed to meet with a mediator to reach a contract agreement, starting on Tuesday night.

According to the JOC, "more than 15 vessels have been diverted from Southern California to Oakland and ports in Mexico and Panama since the OCU struck the first terminal Nov. 27." Currently, 10 out of 14 terminals in the port of Los Angeles-Long Beach remain closed.

Customers should continue to monitor the situation.
