Nuclear Regulatory Commission Adds South Sudan to Restricted Destinations List

In a Federal Register notice published on February 6, 2013, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) issued a final rule which amends their export and import regulations by including South Sudan to the list of restricted destinations.

The notice explains that the addition of South Sudan to their list of restricted destination means that certain radioactive materials being exported to this country may qualify for NRC general licenses.

The NRC amendment notice, which will modify Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR), Part 110, notes "that adding South Sudan to the restricted destinations list, while leaving Sudan on the embargoed destinations list, is consistent with current U.S. law and policy."
