On Monday afternoon, June 9, 2014, the Jinnah International Airport in Karachi, Pakistan, resumed operations following Sunday night’s terrorist attack that resulted in the deaths of at least 28 people, including all 10 attackers.

Security measures have been increased in all of Pakistan’s domestic and international airports. While significant delays in cargo and flight operations have yet to be reported, a release by Bloomberg confirms that, “As many as 20 flights of Pakistan International Airlines were delayed.”  In addition, the BBC reported that incoming flights were diverted during the stand-off with security forces.

Expeditors will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates on supply chain impacts as they occur.  Newsflash readers are encouraged to contact their local Expeditors branch for any further assistance with specific concerns.
