On July 14, 2014, the Department of Commerce issued a press release announcing the launch of the International Trade Administration (ITA) Trade Developer Portal, designed to allow the public to access and review its data.
The release explains that, “The portal is a collection of application programming interfaces (APIs) that allow software developers to create web and mobile applications using information produced by ITA and other trade promotion agencies. Making its data public to software developers is one more way ITA is helping U.S. businesses export and enabling foreign investment in American companies through the use of cutting edge technologies.”
The following information can be accessed through the portal:
- Locations of domestic and international export assistance centers
- Trade leads
- Information about trade events
- Market research
- Trade news and articles
The Department of Commerce also plans to incorporate business opportunities, tariff information, and Free Trade Agreement terms to the APIs over the next months.
