The conflict in Yemen continues to intensify with most sea ports being controlled by the rebels, as a result, numerous international shipping lines have suspended their services to Yemen.
Saudi Arabia and Arab allies have positioned naval vessels to intercept ships supplying the rebels, and while merchant ships are said to have free passage, according to a release by Reuters, “many shipping companies are now unwilling to risk their vessels.”
More than 90 percent of Yemen’s food supply is imported, and the country is already experiencing supply chain disruptions and increased food prices.
