GAC Announces Zika Virus Control Measures

On March 2, 2016 a joint announcement from several government agencies in China, including the Ministry of Public Security and Ministry of Transport released AQSIQ Announcement No. 20 regarding the control and preventing of the spread of the Zika Virus.

These new requirements are being required for ports that have been effected by the Zika Virus. Original disinfestation certification is to be provided by the shipper as well as vehicles and containers from the effected ports will be subject to anti-mosquito treatment. Port authorities will be inspecting cargo and could require containers and vehicles to be quarantined to undergo anti-mosquito treatments.

These new Zika Virus certifications will remain in effect from March 2, 2016 until March 1, 2017.
