In a notice published on October 18, 2016 the Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) announced that Designated Port Exception Permits (DPEP) that authorize entries where no FWS staff is present will no longer be issued.

According to the notice, as the FWS Pilot moves forward “it is critical that our wildlife inspectors be staffed at ports of clearance to process shipments and function effectively in this new single window environment.”

DPEP’s will no longer be issued for CBP entries that require import activity at a non-staffed port, effective immediately.
