On February 23, 2016 the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) released on their website, a list of updated Units of Measure (UOM) codes for use in Automated Commercial Environment (ACE) Cargo Release.
The list of UOMs also includes the declaration structure for the different commodity types including Biologics, Drugs, and Food, etc. It should also be noted that if a UOM code is used that is not on the approved list, the filer will receive a reject. Other rules include, UOMs may only be listed once and each level of packaging needs to be declared.
