DEA Announces Import/Export Pilot in ACE/ITDS

In a Federal Register Notice (FRN) published on July 15, 2016 the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) announced the initiation of a pilot that is being coordinated with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP).

The DEA pilot will test the “electronic submission of data related to the importation and exportation of controlled substances and listed chemicals.” Documentation, forms, and data that were previously submitted in paper form, will be sent electronically through the PGA Message Set and to the Document Image System (DIS) for review by the DEA.

The DEA Pilot will begin no later than August 1, 2016 with the conclusion being posted in the Federal Register. Applications may be submitted throughout the duration of the test.
