CBP Releases Summary of COAC Meeting

On August 12, 2013, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) issued a news release, summarizing the meeting of the Advisory Committee on Commercial Operations (COAC), which took place on August 7, 2013.

CBP Acting Commissioner Thomas S. Winkowski explained that one of the main focuses of the meeting is to make "progress with our partner government agencies toward making a single window, One U.S. Government at the Border (trade processing system)".

Key highlights of the meeting included:
- A three year deployment schedule for the completion of the Automated Commercial Environment (ACE)
- Development of E-Bonds
- Enforcement and Prosecution of Anti-Dumping/Countervailing Duty Cases
- Trusted trader programs with foreign governments, including Canada, Mexico, and Israel

Acting Commissioner Winkowski mentioned that the efforts between the three North American countries are important in moving closer towards a harmonization of customs documentation.
