CBP Posts Frequently Asked Questions on U.S.-Korea Trade Agreement

On October 10, 2012, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) issued CSMS #12-000424 announcing a that a document with Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) on the U.S.-Korea Free Trade Agreement was published on their website, as part of their informed compliance and shared responsibility initiative.

The document includes a memorandum, which explains that the FAQs "provides answers to some of the most common questions arising from the implementation of the U.S.-Korea FTA. It should be referenced in conjunction with the U.S.-Korea text, the Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States General Note 33, and 19 CFR 10, Subpart R."

The FAQs cover the following areas:

  • General Information
  • Claims for Preferential Tariff Treatment
  • Certification of Origin & Required Data Elements
  • Regional Value Content (RVC)
  • Indirect Materials
  • Tariff Rate Quotas
