CBP & FMC Sign Agreement To Share ACE Data

On July 23, 2013, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) issued a press release announcing that the Automated Commercial Environment -International Trade Data System (ACE-ITDS) memorandum of understanding had been signed with the Federal Maritime Commission (FMC) in order to share ACE data.

In the release, CBP explains that the ACE-ITDS agreement was signed " in order to strengthen the balance of facilitation and enforcement regarding the regulation of ocean carriers and other entities involved in ocean trade."

Some of the benefits mentioned in the release include:

  • Assist the FMC to comply with its regulatory and statutory responsibilities
  • Conserve resources for both agencies
  • Ensure compliance with the SAFE Port Act

ACE-ITDS was signed on July 19, 2013.
