On January 26, 2015, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) issued Cargo System Messaging Service (CSMS) # 15-000056 and 15-000057 alerting the trade that the port of Boston will remain closed January 27-28, 2015, while the port of New York will be shut down on January 27, 2015, due to severe weather conditions.  As a result, CBP will grant additional time on entry summaries and payments of duties that were due on the subject dates.

CBP also issued a press release stating that, “Airport and seaport operations from Central New Jersey through Northern Virginia will be staffed to process international travelers and trade imports before, during and immediately after what is forecast to be a potentially crippling snowstorm.”

Expeditors will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as they occur. Please contact your local Expeditors office for specific questions and concerns.
