CBP Announces New FDA Pilot through ACE

In a Federal Register to be published on August 27, 2015, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is announcing a new test pilot in CBP’s Automated Commercial Environment (ACE). The pilot is set to monitor the “electronic transmission of certain import data for all Food and Drug Administration (FDA)-regulated commodities.”

This new pilot will test electronic filing of data elements required by the FDA which include:

  • Product Code
  • Country of Production
  • required information on the manufacturer and shipper
  • Ultimate Consignee

The FDA will also accept additional Affirmation of Compliance (A of C) codes that can help to expedite the release.  

The FDA PGA Message Set will begin no earlier than August 27, 2015 and will conclude when announced by the Federal Register.
