Brazil Customs Strike Still Ongoing

Posted by Sarah Lilly on 10/30/15 4:36 PM

The nationwide strike announced by Brazil’s National Union for Customs Officers (Sindisfisco) on August 19, 2015, is still ongoing and is expected to continue for the foreseeable future.  The Customs Officers are seeking an increase in pay and other benefits.

With only essential activities being exercised, this strike has effected all ports and points of entry.  Shipments will still be able to be cleared at all airports, but they are very delayed.

Expeditors will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as they occur. Please contact your local Expeditors office for specific questions and concerns.
