Australia Implements Trusted Trader Program

On July 8, 2015, Australia’s Assistant Minister for Immigration and Border Protection, Michaelia Cash, announced the launch of the Australian Trusted Trader program. 
 
Minister Cash clarifies that, “The Department has been working very closely with industry to design a program that will ensure that Australian businesses are as​ economically competitive as possible. The program will also increase the security and certainty of Australian trade by offering trade facilitation incentives to businesses that demonstrate secure and compliant supply chain practices.” 
 
Benefits for participants will include the following:
Expedited border clearance
Reduced or priority inspections
Priority access to trade services,
A dedicated account manager
 
Additional benefits, including duty deferral and streamlined reporting, are also being considered.
