Two departments of the Australia government have recently announced fee increases that impact imported and exported merchandise.
The Department of Agriculture and Water Resources (DAWR) announced that effective December 1, 2015, it has “redesigned its export certification and biosecurity cost recovery fees and charges” (as stated on the DAWR website.) In order to assist the trade, DAWR has published a number of “Charging Guidelines”, “Fact Sheets” and “Cost Recovery Implementation Statements (CRIS)”, as referenced on DAWR’s website.
These documents can be obtained through the following link
The Department of Immigration and Border Protection (DIBP) announced changes to the Import Processing Charges (IPC), which are intended to become effective January 1, 2016. The changes to IPCs apply on an import declaration basis, and in order to simplify the application of IPC, the fees have been normalized for the modes of transport.
DIBP has published a table which displays how IPC fees are calculated based upon the manner in which the declaration is submitted (manual or electronic); the FOB value of the consignment; the combining of transport modes (cargo channels) and both the current pricing and the revised pricing as of January 1, 2016.
This table can be found on DIBP’s website under the following link
