Argentinian Wood Packing Requirements

On December 9th, 2015 the Argentinian National Health Service and Food Quality (SENASA) published resolution 614/2015 in the Official Bulletin for new wood packing requirements. The new requirements will be applicable for all wood packaging material used in the international trade of goods that arrive to Argentina or that arrive and transit Argentina.

In essence all wood packaging material must be debarked, free of insects, heat or chemical treated, and certified. Evidence of Certification will contain a mark made to the wood packing material in accordance with international IPPC standards. The symbol includes, a two letter country code, a three number code representing the producer or entity providing the wood treatment assigned by the National Organization of Phytosanitary Protection, and lastly, a two letter code representing the type of treatment given to the wood packing material (HT, MB, DH).

The resolution will go into enforcement 30 days after publication in the Official Bulletin.
