Argentina Customs Strike Temporarily Canceled

Posted by Julia Gogoll on 8/19/14 4:33 PM

On August 8, 2014 Argentina’s Ministry of Labor ordered all customs authorities to refrain from striking for a period of fifteen days, starting August 11, 2014, while contract negotiations continue.

Argentina’s Union for Customs Employees (SUPARA) is requesting an increase in public salaries, which the authorities initially agreed upon on May 6, 2014. Negotiations are currently ongoing and the SUPARA is expecting a prompt response from authorities.

Expeditors will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as they occur. Please contact your local Expeditors office for specific questions and concerns.
