In a decree published on December 19, 2024, in the Diario Oficial de La Federacion, the Mexican government announced the increase of import duties on specific apparel and textile products.

The duties of 17 statistical breakouts were increased from 10% to 15%, and an additional 138 statistical breakouts increased to 35% from 20%.

This decree also removed 300 statistical breakouts from being covered under the Maquiladora program, which allowed the temporary import of specific products for manufacturing and would waive or reduce import duties and the Value Added Tax (VAT).

This increase in duties went into effect on December 20, 2024.
