On June 16, 2021, in the Diario Oficial, Mexico’s Ministry of Economy and Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development published a modification to a December 26, 2020 agreement that established in Article 7 that imported goods with labels such as “organic,” “biological,” “ecological,” or the prefixes “bio” and “eco” will require a current organic certificate as well as the control document. The requirement was scheduled for 180 days after its publication in the Diario Oficial, but this new modification pushed the enforcement date to January 1, 2022.

The complete list of affected products can be found in the Diario Oficial. Additional documentation requirements for specific products are also included there.
