Guatemala and Mexico Announce Efforts towards Joint Customs House Brokerage at Border

On June 3, 2023, the Mexican National Customs Agency published a press release announcing that high level meetings are taking place with Guatemala to improve the border infrastructure, speed up the commerce flow, and eliminate corruption. There are also technical meetings between customs administrations to address the Technological and Customs Integration Project (PITA), the technology and infrastructure strategy in customs, and the importance of risk management to strengthen binational security controls in the transit of goods. In this regard, Guatemala began the construction of border port facilities called "Aduana Bicentenario", an additional crossing point that will have joint operations.
