FDA To Discontinue Allowance of “UNK” Foreign Supplier Verification Program Entity IDs

On June 22, 2022, in a notice, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced that the use of “UNK” as an entity identification in place of the Foreign Supplier Verification Program (FSVP) importer’s Data Universal Numbering System (DUNS) number will discontinued. Effective July 24, 2022, “importers of food(s) subject to the FSVP regulation are required to have a DUNS number. This number must be submitted electronically with the customs entry.
