FDA Proposes to Extend Compliance Date for Additional Traceability Records

Posted by Timothy Miller on 8/13/25 5:00 PM

In a Federal Register Notice (FRN) published on August 7, 2025, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) proposed a rule to extend the compliance date for its “Requirements for Additional Traceability Records for Certain Foods” final rule.

The FDA is proposing this extension due to “concerns about the amount of time affected entities will need to implement the requirements of the rule.”

This proposed rule would extend the compliance date from January 20, 2026, to July 20, 2028.

Comments can be submitted though the mail or through the Federal eRulemaking portal at https://www.regulations.gov until September 8, 2025.
