EU to Implement New Requirements for Air Shipments in March 2023

On March 1, 2023, new requirements for goods arriving by air to or transiting through the European Union (EU) will enter into force. The requirements are part of Release 2 to the Import Control System 2 (ICS2). According to the EU’s publication on the changes, “Economic Operators involved in handling, shipping and transporting of cargo, express or postal consignments to or via the EU by air have to comply with new data reporting requirements for pre-loading and pre-arrival customs risks assessments.”

The ICS2 will be fully operational with the updates on March 1, 2023.
