EU Pauses Tariff Countermeasures Against the U.S.

The European Union (EU) Commission adopted on April 14, 2025, Regulation (EU) 2025/778 which establishes commercial rebalancing measures concerning certain products originating in the United States of America. This regulation amends Implementing Regulation (EU) 2018/886 to adjust the European Union's response to trade measures imposed by the United States.

The first and second batches of countermeasure tariffs – originally scheduled to enter into force on April 15 and May 16, 2025, have been temporarily suspended until 14 July 2025 pursuant to Regulation (EU) 2025/786:
