DOC Makes Preliminary Countervailing Determination on Biodiesel

In a Fact Sheet published on August 22, 2017, the Department of Commerce (DOC) made a preliminary affirmative countervailing duty determination on imports of biodiesel from Argentina and Indonesia. U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) will be instructed to impose cash deposits based on the preliminary rates.

According to the notice, “The merchandise covered by these investigations is biodiesel, which is a fuel comprised of mono-alkyl esters of long chain fatty acids derived from vegetable oils or animal fats, including biologically-based waste oils or greases, and other biologically-based oil or fat sources.” Merchandise covered by this investigation is typically imported under the following headings of the Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States: 3826.00.1000 and 3826.00.3000.

The rates are as follows:

Argentina

  • 50.29% - LDC Argentina S.A.
  • 64.17% - Vicentin S.A.I.C
  • 57.01% - All Others

Indonesia

  • 68.28% - P.T. Musim Mas
  • 41.06% - Wilmar International Ltd.
  • 44.92% - All Others
