On May 28, 2021, in Cargo Systems Messaging Service (CSMS) #48350723, the U.S. Department of Commerce (DOC) confirmed the license requirement for imports of most aluminum products beginning June 28, 2021.

The new licensing system is currently open for account registration and license applications. An account is required in order to submit license applications. The DOC recommends that the trade community register and obtain licenses for entry in advance of the June 28th requirement to prevent delays.
