CBP to Deploy ACE Truck Manifest Enhancements for Low Value Shipments

On March 30, 2019, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) announced in Cargo System Messaging Service (CSMS) #19-000156 the deployment of a series of enhancements to the Automated Commercial Environment (ACE) truck manifest application.

The changes support a CBP policy change that mandates low value (Section 321) cargo must be manifested. According to the CSMS, “the policy change went into effect on January 1, 2019, but was extended to April 1, 2019 for those trucks carrying more than 5,000 shipments due to performance limitations in ACE.”

After the deployment, all previously exempt shipments from electronic filing of the truck manifest for low value must be manifested.
