CBP Reminds Importers of New Unit of Quantity Assignments

On December 6, 2019, in Cargo Systems Messaging Service (CSMS) #40901710, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) reminded importers that the new unit of quantity (UOQ) assignments for duty-free statistical suffices in the Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States will be effective as of January 1, 2020.

The changes include the removal of all “X” units of quantity.  These will be replaced with specific units such as “kg” and “No.”
