CBP Publishes COBRA User Fee Changes

On July 29, 2020, in a Federal Register Notice (FRN) and in Cargo Systems Messaging Service (CSMS) #43511668, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) published various changes to user fees within the Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act of 1985 (COBRA).

Included in these changes are the following:

  • The Merchandise Processing Fee (MPF) minimum and maximum for formal entries will change from $26.79 and $519.76 to $27.23 and $528.33 respectively.
  • The informal entry fee will increase to $2.18.
  • The manual entry or release surcharge will increase to $3.27.

The changes will be effective October 1, 2020.
