Alan Owen

Alan is a veteran with 42 years’ experience in the customs administration environment. He spent 26 years working in the South African Revenue Service, gaining valuable knowledge and experience in all aspects of customs administration. He held various management positions within the administration, including being a founder member of the Unit for Fiscal Analysis and being seconded to Parliamentary services during his career. He was the Deputy Controller of Customs, Cargo Operations at the Johannesburg International Airport when he decided to leave the service. Alan has been in the employ of Expeditors for 15 years, 8 of which in the capacity of Director Customs Services, Europe, Middle East, India and Africa. In this role he was responsible for the direction and execution of Expeditors customs programs across that region. In his current role, he is responsible for the development and the execution of the customs strategy in Europe. Alan works extensively with customers to build and implement customs clearing programs that lead to enhanced customs and trade compliance and improved duty management within an optimized international supply chain.
