CBP’s mission is to safeguard America's borders while enhancing the Nation's global economic competitiveness. Importers’ responsibility to use reasonable care in their day to day activities includes understanding the most common importer errors, preparing for a focused assessment, and understanding how the priority trade issues impact daily affairs. Other topics to be discussed in this seminar include trade remedies (section 301), country of origin determination, classification, valuation, and prior disclosure.
The Automated Commercial Environment (ACE) portal contains tools which are most helpful when importers and exporters are tasked with monitoring their transactional activity, obtaining information about filers and bonds, and reviewing liquidation and ISF accuracy, yet its full capabilities can be difficult to extract. We will provide tips and tricks for working with your company’s data within the portal, how to run and modify reports, and how to use the ACE system to augment your auditing work. Please bring your laptop so you can sign in to ACE and practice with your own company’s data.

Norm's technical background includes expertise in Focused Assessment, Prior Disclosure, CTPAT, NAFTA and other Trade Preference Program compliance, and Export Compliance, and he maintains proficiency in a broad spectrum of international trade topics that are essential in today's regulatory environment. Norm holds a B.A. from Middlebury College and a J.D. from Suffolk Law School. He is a U.S. Licensed Customs Broker and a member of the Massachusetts bar.
