On June 8, 2018, the World Customs Organization (WCO) held a regional workshop on the WCO Data Model for Americas and Caribbean in Lima, Peru.
The workshop included an explanation of the WCO Data Model and the benefits that it provides, such as establishing simplified, transparent, and predictable cross-border regulatory procedures. Another highlight of the workshop was a session by two guest speakers from U.S. Customs and Border Protection and the Customs Administration of Uruguay. In their presentation, the speakers provided perspectives on implementing the WCO Data Model at the national level in the U.S.s Single Window, as well as at the regional level in Mercosur’s Indira interconnectivity for exchanging common data set related to Customs Declaration.
