On March 29, 2019, the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative (USTR) released the 2019 National Trade Estimate (NTE). The NTE is the U.S. government’s “major annual report on the barriers to trade, investment, and services that American exporters and other businesses and their workers encounter around the world.”

Some of the major developments highlighted by the NTE include:

  • The United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement – details changes in Canadian dairy and Mexican telecommunications and energy reforms;

  • China – details the status of World Trade Organization disputes;

  • Israel Customs Certificate Reform – includes the elimination of a hard copy certificate of origin;

  • Market Access for Soybeans in Pakistan – changes to Pakistan’s requirements, increasing U.S. exports to Pakistan.
