On January 13, 2017 the Office of the United States Trade Representative (USTR) released a statement announcing that the United States and Paraguay have signed a bilateral Trade and Investment Framework Agreement (TIFA).
According to the notice the TIFA will allow the US and Paraguay to have an open dialogue and, “engage on a broad range of bilateral economic issues, such as market access, intellectual property rights protection, and cooperation on shared objectives in the World Trade Organization and other multilateral fora.”
The TIFA was signed by Paraguay’s Ambassador to the United States, Germán Rojas and U.S. Trade Representative, Michael Froman.
